Enfield's half term is 26 to 30 October, but Highlands, Southgate and Ashmole break on 16 October and Enfield Grammar stays off until 6 November.
Enfield Council publishes one set of term dates for the schools it maintains, and only three of the ten secondary schools we checked follow them to the day. Three schools take a two-week October break starting on 19 October, one starts its break on 21 October and another two start on 22 or 23 October, while Enfield Grammar takes the council’s week and then a second week in November. At Christmas, Winchmore School sends pupils home a full week before everyone else. This page sets out the council’s dates for 2026/27 and 2027/28, then shows, school by school, where the local calendars differ.

Enfield Council’s 2026/27 year runs from Wednesday 2 September 2026 to Thursday 22 July 2027, with October half term on Monday 26 to Friday 30 October 2026, the Christmas break from Monday 21 December 2026 to Friday 1 January 2027 and February half term on 15 to 19 February 2027. Those dates bind community schools only. Highlands, Southgate School and Ashmole Academy finish on Friday 16 October and return on 2 November, a two-week break. Enfield Grammar is off from 26 October to 6 November. Every school has training days on top, and most fall in the first week of September.

The council’s calendar counts 195 days across six terms (term dates calendar 2026 to 2027, PDF). Five of those are the training days each school chooses for itself, which is why the pupil year is 190 days and why the dates below matter.
Bank holidays inside the school year are 25 and 28 December 2026, 1 January, 26 and 29 March, 3 May and 31 May 2027. The spring term ends on the Thursday before Good Friday.

The split has a practical consequence. In the week of 19 to 23 October, pupils at Highlands, Southgate and Ashmole are off while most of the borough is still in lessons. Training days to watch for
Every school takes five training days and the dates cluster on the same few Fridays. Two are shared by several schools: Friday 2 October (Latymer, Southgate) and Friday 27 November (Latymer’s occasional day, Southgate, Kingsmead). Oasis Hadley closes on Monday 12 October and Winchmore on Thursday 1 October. Enfield County’s three October training days are the only ones that lengthen a holiday.
Primary schools are not covered here. Most community primaries follow the council’s dates exactly, but academies and voluntary aided primaries set their own, so check the school’s own calendar.
